How to Cancel Disney Plus (Any Device)

Disney+ is one of the easiest subscriptions to sign up for and one of the easiest to cancel wrongly. The trick is working out who actually takes your money, because that is the only place the cancel button really works.

Step one: find out who bills you

You might watch Disney+ on a TV, a phone and a laptop, but only one company charges your card. Check your bank statement or the original receipt email, then match it to this table.

This one step saves most of the frustration people have with Disney+. If Apple bills you, no button inside the Disney+ app or on the Disney website will stop the charge.

Cancel when Disney bills you directly

1. Open a web browser and sign in at DisneyPlus.com. A phone browser is fine, the TV app is not.
2. Select your profile icon, then Account.
3. Under Subscription, select your Disney+ plan.
4. Choose Cancel Subscription.
5. Work through the retention screens until you see a final confirmation.

Disney will offer you a cheaper ad-supported plan or a discount on the way out. That is fine if you want it, but if you are leaving, keep clicking through to the end. You should get a cancellation email. If no email arrives, you probably stopped one screen short.

Cancel when Apple bills you

Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name at the top, tap Subscriptions, choose Disney+ and tap Cancel Subscription. On a Mac, it is App Store > your name > Account Settings > Subscriptions. Apple has its own refund request process, separate from Disney's.

Cancel when Google bills you

Open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions > Subscriptions > Disney+ > Cancel subscription. You can do the same at play.google.com in a browser.

Cancel a Roku, Amazon or provider bundle

• Roku: sign in at my.roku.com, open Manage subscriptions, find Disney+ and unsubscribe.
• Amazon: go to Account > Memberships and Subscriptions, find the Disney+ channel and cancel. Note this only applies if you added Disney+ as a Prime Video channel.
• Mobile or broadband bundles: if Disney+ came free with a phone contract or broadband deal, it usually lives in that provider's account area. Cancelling Disney+ there may not reduce your bill at all if it was included in the package price.

What happens after you cancel

• You keep watching until the paid period ends. Cancelling does not cut you off immediately.
• There is usually no prorated refund. If you cancel three days into a month, you have paid for that month. Plan cancellations for just before renewal, not just after.
• Downloads stop working. Anything saved offline in the app becomes unplayable once the subscription lapses.
• Your account survives. Profiles, watchlists and viewing history are generally still there if you resubscribe later.
• Bundles change price. If Disney+ was part of a bundle with other services, removing it can push the remaining services back to full individual pricing. Check the new total before you confirm.

Three things worth checking before you cancel

• Downgrade instead. The ad-supported tier costs meaningfully less than ad-free in the US, UK and Canada. If you still watch, downgrading beats cancelling.
• Annual billing. If you cancel and resubscribe every few months, an annual plan is often cheaper than the stop-start monthly habit. Prices change regularly, so check the current rate in your own account.
• The rest of your streaming stack. Most households cancelling one service are paying for two or three others they barely open. Cancel the whole set in one sitting rather than one service every six months.

The bottom line

Find the company on your bank statement, cancel there, and keep clicking until you get a confirmation email. Disney+ will let you watch out the time you have already paid for, but it will not hand back the unused part, so time your cancellation for the day before renewal. And whatever you do, do not assume that deleting the app has done the job.
